9 Reasons why Sweating with your bestie will keep you sweating together till your Oldies

Have you ever heard the term, ‘two minds are greater than one’? Well, in fitness, I believe two bodies are better than one!! When friendships are formed through fitness, we, as a result become stronger because of it….literally!

It’s awesome to have the ambition and focus to prioritize your own fitness. Let’s face it, sometimes working out alone be it, lifting weights, running, hiking, whatever you choose, a solitude is necessary.

When you live fit, however, much of what your day consists of will be health, wellness, adventure and activity…sometimes doing it all alone can be lonely.

To find a friend in fitness when you live fit is to find a friend for life.

Many of my best friends live, love and understand fitness as a part of their day, helping them achieve success as much as I do and I believe this forms a bond like no other.

Here are my top reasons why you need to find a friend to sweat with….get ready to take your fitness to the next level!!

  1. You will be more accountable: setting fitness dates, goals and events with a friend helps you stay accountable. You will be less likely to sleep in or skip a workout, knowing that your friend is going to be there and knowing that you are in it together.

  2. You will push harder (support system): we are all stronger with a support system…it takes a small village to achieve dreams and having your bestie by your side, cheering you on will increase your performance and ability to push harder towards that extra rep, that extra gym session, that extra mile ran or peak climbed!

  3. You will know each other on a deeper level: fitness brings powerful emotions to surface, allowing you to share a deeper side of yourself and to be vulnerable. These emotions and this vulnerability creates a strong bond. Letting this guard down with someone you trust will help you reach new limits and push through emotional/mental barriers.

  4. You will enjoy being social, without the pressures of having to go out to clubs or parties: when a friendship is based around a healthy lifestyle and fit living, any activity or adventure can be translated into a social activity….there is no need to forego a social life or dream of having a friend, just because you are making a commitment to yourself and health….Enjoying activities outside of the gym together can include grocery shopping, hiking, a day at the beach, meal prepping, coffee or even an evening out enjoying each other’s company instead of enjoying too many sugary alcoholic beverages and reversing your goals.

  5. You will bucket list and adventure together: fit friendships include like-minded adventurers….it’s more than likely that, if you are into health and wellness, you will love the aspect of travel and adventure…who better to see the world with and check things off of your bucket list with than your bestie?

  6. You will encourage each other to be your best: a healthy friendship will also involve a healthy aspect of competition…you want the best for each other, but you don’t want to fall short either or be the weaker link. This healthy aspect will encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and give more effort towards your goals and ambitions.

  7. You will smile/laugh: the point of being fit, is to get the most out of your life…fitness is to enhance your life and often times we can get far too serious…sweating with your bestie will help you add play to your work. Smiling throughout a workout helps you stay in a positive mindset. A positive mindset is the difference between I can’t and YES I CAN!!

  8. You will live successfully together for a long time: those that sweat together stay together. Those that sweat each day, live longer. Those that live passionately in health and wellness reach new heights of success. This all leads to a life-long friendship in success.

  9. High fives: have you ever tried to high five yourself? It just isn’t the same when you reach a new personal record, run your best time or discover a new trail when there’s no one to celebrate with.

Now get out there and rock it with your bestie!
